Missionary Spotlight - Brian and Terah Lites | Alaska
Hi Hessel Church Family,
We are Brian and Terah Lites and for the past 5 1/2 years we have been serving with Kingdom Air Corps in Chickaloon, Alaska. Our membership at Hessel Church as a married couple goes back to 1993, but Brian was a part of Hessel for years prior to that as well. We have fond memories of Mexico trips and serving in the youth group alongside Dan Porter. Dan was a very close friend whose counsel we took to heart, which put us on a path to follow God wherever He took us. Hessel is, and always will be, very near and dear to our hearts and a place we call home.
We have been involved in missionary aviation since 2005, starting with MMS Aviation in Coshocton, Ohio, where Brian received his training to become a certified A&P Mechanic. We then spent 10 years in Ft. Pierce, Florida with Missionary Flights International. The Lord surprised us all when he began to shift our hearts toward a ministry in Alaska. In 2018, we obeyed that call and moved our family to Palmer, Alaska.
We have 3 children, Evan (23), Luke (21) & Sierra (18). The boys both now live in Colorado and Sierra is living at home with us.
The primary purpose of Kingdom Air Corps is to train missionary pilots and do it at a low cost. Brian serves as the Director of Aircraft Maintenance, overseeing maintenance on 15+ aircraft. Terah serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Director, Dwayne King. He is an energetic, 81-year-old, lover of Jesus!
- Personally, please be in prayer for Terah & her family as they love and support her dad through stage 4 colorectal cancer. He is currently undergoing treatment. Her parents live in Iowa and Terah’s heart feels pulled in many directions. Pray for peace as she decides how to divide her family time between Alaska and Iowa.
- We are excited about the expanding ministry of KAC but we ask for prayer for the transition of leadership over the next couple of years. Dwayne is not young anymore and understands the need for a successor. We want to be as supportive as we can to help it go smoothly.
Special Needs:
- The Lord has been providing thus far, but there has been additional financial need for family travel back and forth to Iowa.
- Brian will take part in the “haul trip” the first week of April, where a few KAC staff and friends travel north, take the ice road into Bettles, and haul supplies to our summer bible camp facility in the Brooks Range mountains. This is 37 miles each way on snow machines and quite an undertaking. Brian will need to cover his own expenses for this trip, about $800.
